Jonathan Ross Watson, 36, of Mission Viejo, Calif., formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Feb. 18 at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles due to complications of influenza B and strep A.

Born March 19, 1983, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Virgil “Allen” Watson and Jessica Watson.

He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 2001 and went on to attend the University of Iowa, graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in engineering. He earned his MBA with Summa Cum Laude honors from Pepperdine University in 2019.

Mr. Watson then moved to southern California, where he entered the defense aerospace industry with a job at Meggitt Defense Systems. He enrolled in Pepperdine University’s MBA program in 2016 to further his career. He then moved to the commercial side of aerospace, taking a job with Hartwell Corp.

In 2007, he met the love of his life, Megan. They were married in the fall of 2009.

He was a family man who enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, time spent with his three sons, improving and remodeling his house. He also was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed watching college football with his boys, coaching youth soccer, golfing with friends and barbequing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Watson.
