He grew up in Birmingham; Atlanta, GA; and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. He graduated from Stetson University in Deland, FL. Soon after graduating from Stetson, he served as a cryptographer in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and then worked in sales for Westinghouse Electric for many years. He married Jane on New Year’s Eve 1955 on Miami Beach, where they lived for 25 years before moving to Birmingham, AL and Peachtree City. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane; daughter, Cecile Berry Hardy and her fiancé, George Korge of Jacksonville, FL; son, John Keefe Hardy and daughter-in-law, Beatriz Ochoa Hardy of Peachtree City; three grandchildren; and brother, William Hardy of Covington, GA.
