INJURIES FATAL TO COUNTY MAN
A Mount Herman man was killed in a one-vehicle accident about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday on a county road one mile north and 1 1/2 miles west of Bethel, according to State Trooper Ace McCown.
Pronounced dead on arrival at McCurtain Memorial Hospital, where he was taken by Service Ambulance, was Carl Abner 53, Mount Herman.
The State Trooper said that Abner was driving west in a 1962 model station wagon when he apparently lost control of his vehicle.
The vehicle was out of control for approximately 400 feet, leaving the roadway on the south side and crashing into a large pine tree, Trooper McCown said.

Carl Abner of Mt. Herman died Tuesday, May 20, when the 1962 Chervolet station wagon he was driving ran off the road and struck a tree. Highway Patrolman Ace McCown said the accident occurred about 3 p.m. on a county road 1.2 miles north and 1.4 miles west of Bethel.
Funeral services for Abner were pending with Jones Funeral Home in Wilburton.
