Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Doris Jean Ross, and adoring husband, Steven "Steve" Decker. Joan is survived by her daughters, Sheryl (Stephen Seigneur) Forsythe of Bethlehem, GA, Ginger (Brooks) Watson of Franklin, KY, & Deidre Dee Decker of Cottontown, TN; grandchildren, Candy (Tim) Pitman of Monroe, GA, Heather Forsythe of Monroe, GA, Nick Forsythe of Bethlehem, GA, Shayna Strode(Trey Mcginnis) of Bowling Green, KY, & Raven McGruder Decker of Cottontown, TN; great grandchildren, Nathaniel & Hadlee Pitman, Monroe, GA; siblings, Patricia Curle, Portland, TN, Donald Peyton Ross, Murfreesboro, TN, Brenda Kreisle of Georgetown, S.C., Teresa Hannigan of Portland, TN and multiple nieces and nephews.
As the Ross family matriarch, Joan was a mother to so many of her family members. With her love of genealogy and her detailed record keeping, she served as the narrator of her family's story. She will be loved and remembered as a sister, a mother, a "Nana," and a "Chummy." When she was called home, she passed peacefully with Jesus and her husband, Steve, in her heart.
There will be a graveside service for Joan at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Ross-Potts Cemetery in Murfreesboro, TN.
