Robert Roy Baldwin, 65, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020, at Olathe Medical Center.

Celebration of life services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Baldwin Farmstead, 2893 Stafford Terrace Road, Ottawa. Friends are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and dress casually for an outdoor service.

Family will meet with friends following the service.

Robert was born June 28, 1955 at Ottawa, Kansas, the son of James Willard and Lily Maxine (Shaw) Baldwin.

He was a lifelong Ottawa resident.

Robert attended Wellsville High School and continued his education at Kansas City, Kansas Community College where he studied programmable logic control.

Robert was united in marriage to Vickie Darnell on April 17, 2003 at Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lily Baldwin and sister, Kathleen Pearson.

Survivors also include son, Robert Baldwin, Jr. and wife Shelly of Ottawa and daughter, Cristina Estes and husband Jason of Pomona; stepdaughter, Faith Yocum and husband Ethan of Lawrence; stepsons, Paul Darnell and Adam Darnell and wife Kaitlen all of Lawrence; siblings, Joyce Vandeventer and husband Kenny of Ottawa, Jim Baldwin and wife Janet of Butler, Missouri and Janet Stowe of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Jordan Baldwin of Kansas City, Kansas, Tucker Baldwin of Ottawa, James Baldwin also of Ottawa, Hope Pulver of Pomona, and Matrim Darnell of Lawrence; great-granddaughter, Attley Baldwin; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was a lifelong electrician and farmer/stockman who enjoyed working. He was employed with Kansas University from the mid-1990’s until his retirement in 2015; Hercules Aerospace Division in DeSoto from 1979 to 1995 as an industrial electrician, relief maintenance supervisor, and relief lineman. He previously worked at Bendix Home Systems and Welborn Electric in Ottawa from 1973 to 1979.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Unit #226.

Robert loved spending time with his family and visiting with neighbors. He enjoyed cookouts, attending the grandchildren’s sporting events, working outside on the farm, watching KU basketball and KC Chiefs football.
