Jimmie Ray Powell, 77, husband of Marilyn Newby Powell, of Anderson, died Monday, November 2, 2020 at his residence.
Born in Anderson on July 19, 1943, he was a son of the late Jim Gillard Powell and the late Lula Mae Sosebee Powell.
Jimmie served our country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a tank driver. He retired from Foundry and Steel and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 46yrs, Marilyn Newby Powell, daughters, Jennifer Powell Mayfield, and LeAnna Powell Mitchell (Kevin), grandchildren, Hunter Mitchell, Reed Bell, and Hayden Mitchell and a sister, Brenda Mackey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Powell, Kathy Reynolds and Judy McCrary.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military honors.
