Martha Warren was born in April 1850 in Shelby County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Labon S. Warren and Eliza Jane Robertson. She married James Wygal on 05 Nov 1868 in Shelby County. They moved with her parents to Lone Oak township, Bates County, Missouri, where their five children were born. Martha, James, and the children moved to Redondo Beach, California in 1887. According to her obituary, Martha's husband built the first house in Redondo Beach. He preceded her death in 1908.

Martha passed away at her home in Redondo Beach on Tuesday, 24 Sep 1929. Funeral services were held September 26th, under the direction of Cate Mortuary. She was survived by four children. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wygal, and a son, James Edward Wygal.
