Helen B. Coulter age 88, of New Boston, IL died Sunday September 23, 2007 at Aledo Health and Rehab Center. Services are 10:30 AM Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in New Boston. Burial is in the Eliza Creek Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7PM Tuesday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo, IL. She was born September 13, 1919 in Eliza Township, IL a daughter of Samuel and Daisy Brown Shotwell. She attended the New Boston Schools and married Vern Coulter in June of 1939 in Wapello, IA. He died in 1984.
During high school, Helen was employed at the Abe Lincoln Hotel in New Boston. She later worked at Viola Sales and Engineering in Viola, IL and McKeys Button Factory in Muscatine. She retired from Thatcher's Plastic in Muscatine.
Her memberships include the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center, AARP and the New Boston United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling by bus with friends, going to the boats, gardening and planting flowers.
She is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law; Gary and Mary Coulter and Curtis Coulter all of New Boston; grandchildren Scott Coulter, Rhonda Zimmerman, Tonnie Dahl, Lisa Dunham, Kevin Coulter, 11 great grandchildren,3 great great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother, 4 sisters and a great granddaughter.
