Karen Jane Hughes (Stoebner), age 74 formerly of Rendon, Texas passed away November 2, 2020. Karen was born January 24, 1946 to Alfred Walters Stoebner and Mary Evaleen Martin on the Elgin Air Force base in Florida near Ft. Walton beach.
When Karen was 6 months old they moved to the Bishop area of Texas.
On July 4, 1964 she married Riley Kent Hughes and they were happily married for 56 years. They established Arlington Air Conditioning in Arlington Texas together and worked side by side for over 45 years.
She was a devout Christian and attended St. Jude’s church in Mansfield, Texas where she volunteered much of her time.
Karen was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed poetry, cross stitch and making wreaths and other types of flower arrangements.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mary Ann Gleason.
She is survived by her husband, Riley Hughes; sons, Bryan Hughes, Bruce Hughes and wife Pam; daughter, Angela Phifer and husband Shane; Grandchildren, Paige Hughes, Tori Lynn Beck, Olivia Lafoy, Ashlyn Phifer and Ryker Phifer; brothers, Dr. John Stoebner and wife Judy, Dr. Richard Stoebner and wife Edna, and Denny Stoebner and wife Eleanor.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 A.M. Friday, November 6, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mexia with Rev. Pius T. Mathew officiating. Interment will follow at Tehuacana Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Hughes, Toben Hughes, Shane Phifer, Sammy Hughes, Benny Hughes and Mike Gleason. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John Stoebner, Dr. Richard Stoebner and Denny Stoebner.
