Jerry Cecil Peters, 79, of Horse Creek Road at Naoma, WV passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesburg, PA, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on January 13, 1941 in Carter County, KY to the late Charlie and Mary Etta O’Connor Peters. He retired as a coal mine superintendent from Peabody Coal Co after 38 years as well as serving in the US Army for 9 years in the Vietnam War and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his beautiful wife and lifelong love, Linda Joyce Jarrell Peters; and 3 brothers, Charlie Jr., Joe and James Peters. He is survived by his precious children whom he loved more than life, 2 daughters, Bertina Marie Williams and her husband Ken and Gina Carole Jarrell; and 3 sons, Jerry Cecil and his wife Debbie; Bartley Robert and his wife Brittany; and Brandon Marshall and his wife Wendy; 5 grandchildren, Benjamin Allen Williams, Stacey Marie Williams Weatherly, Logan Carl Jarrell, Luke Robert Jarrell and Matthew Peters and a great granddaughter, Ellanore Weatherly; 2 sisters Martha Peters Jarrell and Daisy Peters Combs and her husband Russell and 2 brothers Bob and his wife Helen and Richard; 2 sisters-in-law, Anna Mae and Carol Jarrell; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many extended family and friends. He was a born again Christian and a member of the Arnett Chapel where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He was a strong and loving man who will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, November 7, 2020, at two o’clock in the Armstrong Funeral Home Whitesville, WV with Rev. Jerry Tyree officiating. Interment will follow in the Jarrell Cemetery Horse Creek, WV. The visitation will be two hours before the service at the funeral home.
