He was born in Lee County, NC and resided in Raleigh, NC most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a former Raleigh police officer, and a former N.C. State Trooper. Lee was also a Mason and Shriner. He was formerly married to Marilyn Carol Nuse, whom he married Nov 18, 1966; he married Lynne Marie Childers, Aug 2, 1996.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Womack Sr.
Surviving: mother, Maxie Womack of Raleigh; daughter, Michele Willett (Ron) of Sanford; son, Lee Womack III of Louisburg; son, Ryan Lee Womack of Lexington; brother, Jerry Winston Womack of Raleigh; sister, Julia Murray (Milton) of Middlesex; and three grandchildren.
