James E. Brock II
November 21, 1964 ~ October 30, 2020 (age 55)

James E. Brock II, 55 of Gaylord, passed away at home on Friday, October 30, 2020 surrounded by his family, after an 11 year battle with multiple myeloma.

Born in Flint, Michigan on November 21, 1964, Jim was the son of James E. and Joyce K. (Adcock) Brock. He was a 1982 graduate of Southwestern High School in Flint.

On February 1, 1985, Jim married the love of his life, Diana L. Fraser. Four days after, he joined the United States Army, serving until 1991.

After returning home to Flint, Jim worked as a CNC machinist at Burkland Industries in Goodrich, Michigan for several years. In 1998 Jim and Diana relocated to Northern Michigan - to provide a better life for their children. Always a hardworking man, Jim was able to put his CNC machinist’s skills to good use at Lanzen Fabricating in Mancelona.

Some of Jim’s hobbies were fishing, hunting, along with yard-work and working on vehicles. He was happiest at home, spending time with his family with his beloved dogs always nearby.

In October of 2008 Jim had a horrible back injury that ultimately led to the diagnosis of multiple myeloma; no longer able to work Jim and Diana relocated closer to their Children in Gaylord, MI.

Jim is survived by Diana, his wife of 35 years (whom he met at 12 and have been together since 16); his children, Jason J. Brock and Amanda R. (James M. Ellis) Brock all of Gaylord; granddaughters, Brooklyn Skye Brock, Parker Rain Ellis and Spencer Storm Ellis; his parents, James and Joyce Brock of Gaylord; a sister, Samiaha (Richard) Kerr of Swartz Creek; and his many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his younger sister, Shelly Brock.

A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00-7:00 PM Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions in Jim’s memory to Karmanos Cancer Institute Foundation.
