JOHN R MCGOWAN

On Friday, October 30, 2020, John Robert “Jack” McGowan, loving husband and father of five children, passed away peacefully at the age of 87.
He was born to parents James McGowan and Mary McGowan (nee Rossiter). He was preceded in death by a daughter Donna Worthington, brothers James, William, Thomas, Daniel, and sister Joan.
The loving husband of Patricia McGowan (nee Hayden), father of Jennifer Gonzalez (Victor),Perkiomenville, PA, John McGowan (Barbara),Long Meadow, MA, Barry McGowan (Susan), Alburtis, PA, and Robert McGowan (Veronica),Oklahoma City, OK, he also leaves a brother Joseph Kern (Meimer), Ocala, FL, as well as 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Jack joined the Marine Corps with six friends and served in Korea as a radio technician. He was employed at SPS Technologies, Hallowell Division, from 1950 through 1988, starting as a machine operator and culminating his employment as the National Sales Manager.
Pat and Jack raised a family in Warminster, and later enjoyed retirement in Franconia, Skippack, and Blue Bell. Family vacations, with five kids stuffed into a series of station wagons, ranged from Maine to Florida, with Cape Hatteras a multiyear mainstay. Travels with Pat included Ireland, Greece, the Caribbean, Alaska, and Hawaii. Jack was a lifelong golfer and once hit a hole in one. Other interests included home improvement, TV programs on African safaris and World War II, plus Philly sports. He enjoyed nothing more than a cold can of beer after mowing the grass on a hot summer day. He was a landlord beloved by his tenants. Neighbors and business associates became lifelong family friends. He was tirelessly committed to supporting his children and their families and took great pride in their every accomplishment
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 10 a.m. at St. Helena Church, 1489 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422, followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be at Washington Crossing National Cemetery
