Betty was born on December 1, 1930 in the Carrollton, IA, area. She was the daughter of Leroy and Matilda (Gute) Hagaman and was the middle of three children. Her family later moved to Coon Rapids where she graduated from high school in 1949. Betty was married to Lyle G. Knight on Nov 26, 1949 in Council Bluffs, IA. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her pride and joy were her two grandsons. She was in the stands cheering for every baseball, football, and basketball game they played in. She was also very proud of their scholastic accomplishments. Betty enjoyed hosting all the holiday family events and was an accomplished baker. She spent much of her time cross stitching and quilting and left many beautiful projects for her family to enjoy. When in her 50’s, Betty joined her then young grandsons on the golf course and became an avid golfer. When the weather cooperated, she met her friends at 8 AM every morning for a round of golf. Betty and Lyle loved feeding birds and keeping watch over their feeders. She was also known to become friends with, and feed, a stray cat or two as well. Betty and her husband, Lyle, joined the Thomas Rest Haven family in June 2015 when their health began failing, and they received excellent care.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Judy (Reece) and Janice (Jon); two grandsons, Dr. Chad (Natalie) and Dr. Cory (Amy); four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Addie, Finn, and Alexa; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by husband, Lyle; her parents; and brother, Dean; and sister, Donna.
