Reliques of the Rives (begin p. 118) says "born 1683,was probably a member of Martin's Brandon Parish ...", Prince George County, Virginia Colony, British America. He is the first of the family to appear in the Virginia land patent books. Though he acquired several substantial tracts of property including a large portion of the Great Dismal Swamp, he always called Prince George County and Martin's Brandon home.
