Raymond E. "Flea" Fletcher, 88, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Raymond was born December 18, 1931 the son of Glen Lester and Francis Helen (Bomar) Fletcher. He was raised on a farm in the Whiting area. Following High School, he joined the U.S Army in 1951.
Raymond and Ruth Jane Rowland were united in marriage on October 10, 1953. They made their home in Onawa, Iowa where they raised their three children. He was the owner and operator of Fletcher Oil Company. He enjoyed stock car racing, spending time at his lake house, and tinkering with electronics and watches.
Raymond is survived by his children, Chris Hogan of Omaha, Nebraska, Kathy (John) Casson of North Sioux City, South Dakota, and Roger Fletcher of Onawa, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Theresa Bennett of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Matthew Shane (Stephanie) Rustin of New Ulm, Minnesota, Melia (Jon) Cooper of Omaha, Nebraska and Michael, Kirk, Erica and Lucas Fletcher of Aurora, Colorado; along with many great and great-great-grandchildren; one sister Judy Weatherly of Omaha, Nebraska; brother-in-laws Wayne Burgess of Onawa, Iowa and Robert Rowland of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; and sister-in-law Bev Rowland of Sterling, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane Fletcher; one sister Patricia Pritchard and one son-in-law Tom Hogan; and many brother and sister-in-laws.
As per his wishes, he will be cremated and a private burial will be held at the Onawa Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at Burgess Health Center, Burgess Home Health and Hospice, and Elmwood Care Center.
