Beatrice “Bea” Newberry, 92, of Carlinville, IL, formerly of Springfield, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Carlinville Rehab and Health Care Center. She was born on August 13, 1928 to Herby and Nancy Light. Her mother later married Stanley Talkington.
Bea married Richard “Dick” Newberry in 1951 and he passed away in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Raymond Light, and daughter-in-law Lori Newberry.
She is survived by her children, Lawrence Newberry of Springfield, Paul Newberry of Jacksonville, Lisa (Riley) Adams of Springfield, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bea was a homemaker and enjoyed various activities including cooking, sewing, bowling, painting, shopping, and studying family history. She always had time for her family and always enjoyed a visit with anyone.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where a memorial visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. A graveside memorial service will then follow at 11 am at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Cremation rites were accorded.
