Bessie S. Grady, 93, passed away October 28, 2020. She was born on August 11, 1927 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Lee Roy Smith and Annie Mae Holden Smith. She was a member of Greater Friendship Primitive Baptist Church. She was educated in Chattanooga Public Schools at Second District, a 40 year employee of Sears Holdings, a longtime member of Chanel Social Club, also a member of Alexian Brothers PACE.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, O’Neal Grady; son, Montez Grady; daughter, Florence Phillip.
Those left to cherish her memories daughter, Valerie Bray; sister, Bertha Jo Gladden; brother, Haywood Smith, granddaughters, Vicki Mathews, Natalie Mathews, Nichole Bray, Robin Bray; grandson, Terry Mathews; 8 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be from 2 – 6 pm Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held privately. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
