Funeral services are scheduled at Lakewood Baptist Church, 4011 Lakewood Drive, Phenix City, Alabama on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, 10:30 a.m. with Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Russell, daughter of the late Robert Lee Justice and Shellie Crocker Justice, was born March 27, 1946 in Columbus, Georgia. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and an active member of the Amen Choir. Mrs. Russell faithfully treated numerous patients in the Chattahoochee Valley as a Nurse and Nurse Practitioner at Cobb Hospital and Columbus Health Department for over 35 years. She was also a member of the American Nurses Association.
Mrs. Russell enjoyed decorating at the church, at home, and at Christmas. She lived a full life, enjoying playing dominos with friends at the church; gardening, particularly her flower garden; traveling with the Amen Choir; and taking trips to the mountains. Mrs. Russell looked forward to being at home watching television game shows and attending performances at both the Springer Theatre and River Center. More than anything, she treasured time with her family, in particular her grandson. The family remembers her as a lady who was loving and caring – “always taking care of others.”
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson “Jack” Russell.
Mrs. Russell is survived by a daughter, Shannon Russell Scruggs (Mark) of Phenix City; brother, Robert L. Justice ( May )of Opelika, Alabama; extended generations.
