Mahmoud was born in Huwara which is a village near Nablus and Schechem in the West Bank of Israel or Palestine as it is called by some, although it was neither when he was born. It was under the Turkish at the time of his birth.
He died in Tijuana, Mexico because at the last moments of his life he finally conceded to go to try to get some help at the Cancer clinic. But he was too late. He died within hours of his arrival there.
He was a resident of Lodi, California at the time of his death.
He was survived by nine children and at that time 23 grand children but more were coming!
His children all had the same middle and last name. By the Arab naming convention their middle name was Mahmoud (their father’s first name) and their last name was given to them by the Israeli’s, which was Odeh. Mahmoud said that wasn’t their name but it was their assigned name. He said they were not part of that family at al.
His sons are named Nidal, Jamal, Kamal, Bilal, and Muhammad. His daughters names are Amal, Aliya, Ola, and Beyan.
According to the Arab naming convention Mahmoud was his first name, Abd’l Rahim was his father’s name, Falah, was his grandfather’s name, Said was his next grandfather’s name. He knew the names back 18 generations, but I didn’t learn them all.
Mahmoud was a brilliant man with a huge personality. He was a Naturopath and cured many people who had incurable diseases.
Just before he died, he told me he always wanted to be a hero. He was a hero. He saved Captain Dax’ life on a ship in the North Sea. He jumped off the ship to save a drowning man even though he didn’t know how to swim! He ran into a burning building and carried a lady out of the house to safety. His body bore several large burn scars from that incident.
He had the heart of a lion.
