She was born September 4, 1931, in Meadow Lands, a daughter of James and Virginia Bazzoli Craig.
Mrs. Mitchell was a 1949 graduate of Chartiers High School and studied business administration at Penn Commercial in Washington.
Thelma was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Houston, where she served as an elder and deacon.
She had worked as an office clerk for the former Suwak Trucking, as a court reporter for Attorney John Burke in Pittsburgh and for Commonwealth Reporting also in Pittsburgh, retiring in 2011.
On November 8, 1952, she married Bernard J. Mitchell, who passed away April 13, 1988.
Surviving are five sons, Bernard J. Jr., Jeffrey and Bruce Mitchell all of Houston, Randy Mitchell (Monica) of Cecil and Bryan Mitchell (Ann) of Castle Rock, Colo.; a sister, Loretta Moffatt (Wayne) of Williamsport; daughter-in-law, Andrea Mitchell of Crystal River, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Larry Mitchell; and a brother, James Craig.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 3. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens.
