Roxie C. Cooper, age 92, of Whaleyville died Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Roxie was born in Atlanta, GA and was the daughter of the late General Lee and Annie (Scoggins) Scarborough.

She had worked for Worcester County Board Of Education as a cafeteria manager and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Berlin.

She is survived by one son, Steve L. Hammond and fiancé Donna Martin of Whaleyville; one daughter, Tina A. Smack and husband Reese of Willards; one brother, Paul Scarborough of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Danny Smack and fiancé Frannie Dayton and Wesley Smack; one great-grandchild, Skylar Smack; lifelong friends, Susan Miller and Eddie Phillips; special friend, Pearl Toomey.

She was preceded in death by her son, Samuel W. Hammond, two brothers, Leroy Scarborough, Robert "Bob" Scarborough and two sisters, Reba Roberts, and Ruby Clark.

A funeral service will be held 12pm on Monday, November 2 at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville. Friends may call one hour before the service. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery in Parsonsburg.
