Belen Cordova Martinez was born on July 25, 1922 in El Paso, Texas. She passed away peacefully at home with her family present, on January 6, 2018. Belen is predeceased by her father Adolfo Cordova, mother Belen Holguin Cordova, daughter Marianne Martinez O'Quinn and son David Cordova Martinez.
Belen and her family relocated to Los Angeles' Florence District during the Great Depression. She remembers riding in the "rumble seat" of her father's car, with her cousin, from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles, CA. Belen graduated from High School in the Summer of 42'.
Belen leaves an extended family that she treasured: her husband Edward, sons Daniel and Bill, daughters-in-law Vivian Brachman, Shelly, Liz & Leng Martinez, son-in-law Jerry O'Quinn; grandchildren, Eric, Vanessa, Kyle, Alexandra, Zachary & Kristian Martinez, Kelly Parker and five great grandchildren.
She loved to volunteer, especially at the church library and the Long Beach Veteran's Hospital with her husband Edward. She was nicknamed "Sunny" for her sunny spirit. She loved to sing, dance and play the piano especially, Sunny, Granada, Swing on a Star and Sabor a Mi.
A funeral Mass was held Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Juliana Falconieri, Catholic Church, and interment was held at Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton.
