Funeral services for Willis Thames will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church. Mr. Thames, age 70, passed away from this life on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in Jackson. Reverend Byron Malone and Reverend Brent Wade will officiate and Mr. Kurt Taylor will speak on the family’s behalf. Interment will be in the Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery.
Wade Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Mike Pickering, Steve Pickering, Jason Pickering, Wiley Pickering, Ronnie Pickering, and Brent Wade.
Willis David Thames was born April 12, 1949, in Collins to Thomas David Thames and Helen McLaurin Thames. Mr. Thames was retired from BellSouth and AT&T and was a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife of 46 years, Vivian Pickering Thames; and a brother, Harry Thames.
Mr. Thames is survived by 2 sons, Chris Thames of Collins and Craig Thames and his wife Jodie of Collins; 1 daughter, Chelsea Thames Ware and her husband Mac of St. Francesville, LA; 3 grandchildren, Aiden Thames, Cole Miller, and Wyatt Miller; 1 sister, Sylvia Thames Foxworth and her husband James of Collins; 2 brother in laws, Dan Pickering and his wife Joyce of Collins and Clifford Pickering and his wife Debbie of Hattiesburg; 3 sister in laws, Rhonda Kay Wade and her husband Danny of Collins, Rachael Pickering of Collins and Barbara Pickering of Hebron; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday from 12:30pm until service time at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church.
Friends desiring to make memorials are asked to do so to The Mt. Horeb Baptist Church or The Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 25 Mt. Horeb Rd. Collins, MS 39428.
