Albert Lee Moon, 75, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Born Aug. 13, 1940 in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Wilma Katherline Hopkins and Acey Moon. Mr. Moon was a graduate of Boyden High School. He served in the United States Army for 22 years as active duty and two years in the United States National Guard. Serving two tours in Vietnam, Mr. Moon was with the 82nd Airborne, Special Forces and retired as a Master Sergeant. After the military, Mr. Moon worked as security with Fiber Industries and later with Duke Energy McGuire Nuclear Plant until retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, amateur bird watching, fishing, guns and loved camping. Mr. Moon is survived by his wife, Mary Sloan Moon; son, Adrian Moon and wife Melissa of Wilmington; daughter, Selena Bell and husband Eddie of Salisbury; brother Howard Gale Moon and wife Sandy of Elk Grove, Calif.; nephew, Allen Moon; niece, Alicia Longwedel; grandchildren, Tyler and Courtney Bell; great-grandchild, Cara Blake Cruz; and very best friend and dog, Harley. Visitation and Service: Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Summersett Funeral Home. Graveside service with military honors will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at Thyatira Presbyterian Church with Pastor Stacey Steck officiating.
