Carolyn Sue Ball a native and resident of DeQuincy, Louisiana was born November 10, 1951 and passed away October 28, 2020. Carolyn retired from C. Paul Phelps Correctional Center where she was employed as a security guard. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, DeQuincy, La. She loved the Lord and one of her favorite past times was reading and sharing recipes. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Benjamin Jude Nichols, Laura Elizabeth Nichols-Chestnut and Valerie Lynn Snyder; grandchildren, Kayla Renee' Nichols Fisher, Benjamin (Ben) Austin Nichols, Stephen Jude Nichols, Chelsie Allison Gremillion, Harold Oliver Nichols-Chestnut and Oscar Enrique Nichols-Chestnut and one great granddaughter, Olivia Austin Nichols. She is also survived by her sisters, Laura Frances (Snooks) Ball Childress and Alma Jean (Sissy) Ball Van Meter; nephews, Alan Clay Childress and John Ethan Van Meter and nieces, Frances Coleen Childress Moore and Judy Elaine Van Meter Graham. She is also survived by her eight dogs (babies).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Ball and Laura Lee Gamble Ball.

The family will receive friends from 1 - 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2020 with the funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 West Fourth Street, DeQuincy, Louisiana. Rev. Bruce Austin will officiate and interment will follow at Rigmaiden Cemetery, DeQuincy, La.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
