Obituary
John Thomas Hogan, Jr.
3/19/1940 --- 8/21/2019

It is with great sadness that the family announces that John Thomas (Jack) Hogan Jr., the only child of John Thomas "Jack" Hogan Sr. and Edith Louise (Rainbolt) Hogan, born March 19, 1940, in East St Louis, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2019, at the age of 79 in his Apple Valley California home surrounded by family and friends.

John was a proud man of old school values and still believed that a handshake was as good as your word. He believed in taking on life's battles with full force and was a man of many accomplishments in life, love, and work. He had a strong work ethic, which took him far in life. John became an Eagle Scout at a very young age and at age 18 enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served with honor during the Vietnam War and earned the rank of Corporal. His training in Special Ops included learning two foreign languages required for his job with the 1st Marine Division Fleet Marine Force 1st Composite Radio Company. Marine Corps life suited John due to his sense of order and code of loyalty, which carried him through life. While in the Marines he met and married Diana Sharon Hynch in 1961, daughter of Ralph L Hynch and Helen Sophia Mazinski. John and Diana had 3 children and had been married 26 years when John tragically lost her to cancer. John thought he'd never find love again, but met and married Carney Ann who remained his wife until his passing.

Early in his business career, John excelled at sales in the high desert areas for Fort Howard Paper and then moved into purchasing where he became somewhat of a legend in the national foodservice industry for nearly 50 years. John was the Founder of the "Chain Gang" Food Service Purchasing Group of Southern California and since has continued providing a vast network of foodservice buyers, brokers and sales professionals with his support and advice as Owner and CEO of Foodservice Purchasing Support Services nationwide.

John was a proud and patriotic veteran who supported veterans like himself. He was a Life Member of the Marine Corps League currently attached to the Victor Valley detachment #1383 and served as their Judge Advocate and Paymaster. He was also recently appointed as the Regional Coordinator of Central and Coastal area detachments for the State of California.

John is survived by his wife Carney of 29 years, children Steve (Robin), Tim (Eve), Chris (David) and Ryan (Kim), 6 Grandchildren Ryan, Chelsea, Alex, Troy, Cassie and Nick and 3 Great Grandchildren Tate, Eli and Oliver and numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation 9:00-10:00 AM, service 10:00-11:00 AM. A reception will follow at Poncho Villa's restaurant, 11620 Amargosa Rd. Burial will be at a later date at Riverside National Cemetery.
