Bill was a 1976 graduate of Marion High School where he excelled in football and he continued his education at Ball State University graduating in 1985. Because he was a participant in ROTC at BSU he was able to enlist in the United States Army as lieutenant and honorably served both active duty and in the Army Reserves. Upon returning to Marion he was employed by the former Foster Forbes and found his passion with law enforcement on the Grant County Sheriff’s Department. He moved to Indianapolis and was employed with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement in 2016.
Bill was an outdoors man and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was patriotic and supported our military and law enforcement. After his retirement he spent time watching sports on television and staying in touch with former classmates and friends. He was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church, Indianapolis.
Bill is survived by his sister, Susan Berger (Dr. Michael R.) Hamrick, Homosassa, Florida; nephews, Sean J. (Elizabeth Hoskins) Williams; Lexington, Kentucky; Brice P. Williams, North Las Vegas, Nevada; great niece, Matilda Hoskins-Williams; long time friend, Lesa Rockwell, Portland, Indiana; a host of extended family and friends.
The graveside service in Estates of Serenity Cemetery, Marion will be held privately. Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, Marion, Indiana was entrusted with the arrangements
