He was born in Erie, March 7, 1935 a son of the late Earl George Washington and Veronica Mae (Hunter) Russell.
Fred was honorably discharged from the Pa. National Guard and the Army Reserves. He worked in construction for many years in Pennsylvania, New York and Florida. In his spare time, Fred liked hunting and especially fishing. He enjoyed family gatherings, building things and tinkering with cars.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Snyder) Fehnel Russell, two sons; Jack Merle Russell and Anthony “Tony” Russell, the mother of his children, Ethel “Cindy” Russell Morris and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his children; Cynthia Smith (Rodney) of Florida, Janice Letkiewicz (Raymond) of Erie, Fred Russell Jr. (Deanne) of Waterford and Diana Malinowski (Walt) of Florida. Fred is further survived by several brothers and sisters, many grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
No calling hours will be observed. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
