Mrs. Ellen Spann, mother of Supervisor Chas. S. Spann, and sister of Capt. D.P. Porter, postmaster at Jackson, and Capt. J. A. porter, died Wednesday morning at 5 o'clock, at her home near Cooper's Well. Mrs. Spann was a daughter of the late Col. George C. Porter, in his day one of the best known and most highly respected citizens of the county, she herself being a lady of sterling qualities of head and heart. The furneral took place yesterday from St. Mark's Church, Rev. Dr. Williams of Jackson officiating.
