Joe Michael Hale of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on October 24, 2020 at the age of 87. He was born on September 17, 1933 to Joe Bailey and Willie Mae (Cummings) Hale in Farwell, Texas and grew up in Odessa, Texas.

He met and married the love of his life, Annette Jenkins in 1956 in Austin, TX while attending the University of Texas. He then served in the US Navy and retired in 1976 with 26 years of service.

After retirement, Joe enjoyed a number of careers. He was an entrepreneur, worked in the oil and gas industry, and pursued a career as a people helper. What he enjoyed most was encouraging individuals and families who were challenged by life's circumstances. Joe loved people and sharing Jesus with others!

Joe earned post graduate degrees in business administration, education, and counseling. He was a licensed professional counselor for 10 years before transitioning into professional coaching and management consulting. He enjoyed serving in the church, where he volunteered in one or more leadership roles. In the early years, he worked with teens; in the middle years, he served as a deacon focusing on adult education; and in later years, he served as an elder at Edmond Church of Christ, Quail Springs Church of Christ, and at Farmers Branch Church of Christ. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club.

Joe loved to write and journal. He loved history and genealogy. He loved the outdoors and gardening. He loved to sing. He loved children. He loved his family and friends.

Joe is survived today by his wife, Annette; their four daughters, Marcee Rollandini (Tom) of Emerald Isle, NC, Michelle Hale (Meredith Canada) of Houston, TX, Janaye Weldon (Brad) of Plano, TX, Nicole Ecklar (Ben) of Euless, TX, and sister Jann McGuire of Lindsay, CA. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren David Rollandini, Andrea Rollandini Self, Aubrey Weldon Ballard, Haley Weldon Rude, Benjamin Ecklar, Anna Ecklar, William Ecklar, Avery Ecklar, Elijah Ecklar, Matthew Ecklar and 14 great grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Patrick and Kyle and his great grandson Ryker Self.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30am on Friday, November 6, 2020, at The Branch Church, 3035 Valley View Ln, Farmers Branch, TX 75234, led by Tim Ketchersid. A graveside ceremony will take place at 1pm at DFW National Cemetery with military honors.
