Leona Erickson, 90, formerly of 1520 1/2 N. Third Ave., Wausau, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 1996, at her daughter's residence in Rothschild. She was born Sept. 21, 1905, in Polar, Wis., the daughter of the late Hiram and Minnie (Eggens) Tackett. She married Fred Erickson on May 10, 1924, in Antigo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1947. Leona enjoyed gardening and fishing with her children and sons-in-law. She worked at Jaeger Bakery for more than 20 years. Leona dearly loved her family and grandchildren. Survivors include four daughters, La Verne Erickson, Milwaukee, Shirley (Robert) Hammond, Minocqua, Leaha (Glenn) Geurink, Rothschild, and Carol (Hilbert) Tessmer, Wausau; two sons, Robert (Jean) Erickson, Wausau, and Duane (Nancy) Erickson, Schofield; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Meeks, Antigo, and Vivian (Walter) Scott, Rockford, 111.; and three brothers, Roscoe (Helen) Tackett, and Darrell (Louise) Tackett, all of Antigo, and Virgil (Phyllis) Tackett, Baren Spring, Mich. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia; and three sisters. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 1996, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The Rev. Christine Stack will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and again from Noon Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.
