Miss Mabel Barrowman, daughter of Mrs. Chas. Sherbocker, and Mr. Fred White were married at the home of the bride’s mother, the City Hotel, Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 1913, at 3:30 o’clock. Rev. F. M. Bailey, of the M. E. church performed the ceremony in the presence of a few relatives. The bride is the only daughter of Mrs. Chas. Sherbocker and is a pleasant and capable young lady. The groom has been connected with Stalling’s livery barn for some time, and is a splendid young man. They expect to remain in Otsego. The best wishes of many friends for a long and happy wedded life is extended to these worthy young people.

Mrs. Mabel Barrowman White, Former Oswego Girl, Was brought here Tuesday Morning For Interment.
Mrs. Mabel Barrowman White, wife of Fred White of Fort Scott, Kansas, died at her home there Sunday evening, February 22, at 5:30, as the result of an attack of influenza followed by pneumonia. A five hour old baby, born to her on Saturday, February 21, died at five o’clock on the evening of its birth. The casket containing the mother, clasping in her arms the tiny babe for whom she had given her life, was brought to this city on the Flyer, Tuesday morning, where funeral service for both were held from the First Methodist church conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. S. Wise, at 10:30 o’clock, and interment was made in Oswego cemetery.
Mabel Barrowman was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, Feb. 27, 1888, and would have been 33 years of age had she lived until today. In 1896 she came with her parents to Oswego where she was reared and educated. At the age of 14 she united with the Methodist church, being ever after an ardent and consistent Christian and church worker, transferring her membership from the church here to Fort Scott upon her removal to that city.
In 1913 she was united in marriage with Fred White, also of this city, and to them, two children were born, Elizabeth Ellen, aged six and the infant who preceded its mother to the other world only a day.
Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. White moved to Fort Scott where they had since made their home and where he is employed with the Goodlander Mills. Her illness was of brief duration, being sick just a week and three days. Besides the sorrowing husband and the little daughter, she leaves also her mother, Mrs. Chas. Sherbocker, also of Fort Scott, two brothers, Ralph B. Barrowman of that city and Will Barrowman of Los Angeles, Calif. The remains were accompanied here by the husband and mother.
The deceased was well known in this city and claimed a wide circle of friends here who esteemed her dearly for her many fine qualities of mind and heart and they were deeply grieved at the early ending of her life.
