She was born on April 20, 1928, in Mason City, to Claude and Florence (Lussenhop) Blessman. On April 23, 1950, in Mason City, she married John Doyle Jr., who preceded her in death in 1981. Wanda is survived by 3 children, Joan Elizabeth (Michael L.) Swaar, John William Doyle and Joe David Doyle; 4 grandchildren, Michael D. Swaar, Ashley (Joel) Peterson, Taylor Doyle, Ian Doyle; step-granddaughter, Alexa Cordero; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Claude Eldon Blessman and 23 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, Gene Blessman and Donald Blessman; sister, Elizabeth Leesman and granddaughter–in–law, Darcy Williams Swaar.
Wanda was a member of the Mason City Methodist Church. She volunteered at the Mason City Area Nursing Home, the Mason City grade school and town wide recycling days. She was a member of the Mason City Woman's Club, the quilting club and Mason County Home Extension. She enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, sewing and quilting, but most importantly she loved spending time with her family and traveling all over the world.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home, in Mason City. Burial to follow at Mason City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City Area Nursing Home or the Mason City United Methodist Church. .
