J. Roland “Rollie” Hahn, 90, of Findlay, OH, passed away October 27, 2020 at his home at The Heritage, surrounded by his family and caregivers. He was born June 5, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland, the second of four sons to the late Lloyd S. and Marian (Carr) Hahn. His wife, Ruth Coquella (Glaze) Hahn pre-deceased him on January 19, 2010. Surviving him is his brother Robert L. (Jan) Hahn Frisco, TX. Brothers Carroll I. (Shirley) Hahn, Deep Creek Lake, MD, and Jean (Nancy) Hahn are both deceased. Rollie married Ruth Wheeler Sturgeon in 1951, and they later divorced. She preceded him in death in 1993. Rollie and Ruth had five children, the late John (RuthAnn) Hahn, Findlay, OH, Kathleen (Albert) Hawkins, Kansas City, MO, Sharon (Roy) Hassell, El Cajon, CA, Janet (Tom) Gohlke, Boise, ID, and Linda Sue (Alan) Young, Findlay, OH. Rollie married Ruth Glaze, blending the family with seven children; Vicki Leatherman, Reynoldsburg, OH, Randy Davenport, Denace Davenport, Tami Murphy, Melanie Williams, Jacklyn Deuble, and the late Linda Joy Davenport, all of Findlay, OH. There are 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren who survive. He was preceded in death by great grandson Nathan McKee. Rollie enjoyed a rewarding and successful career in the insurance industry. He was a District Manager for Woodmen Accident & Life Company from 1959-1971, and later founded Benefit Plans Risk Management, Inc. Ruth and Rollie enjoyed traveling in the USA and abroad. In June, 1989, Ruth and Rollie entertained their family on a reunion trip to Kauai, Hawaii (36 members in all) for a festive and memorable occasion. Rollie’s church was an important part of his life. He and Ruth were active members of First United Church of Christ, Findlay from 1981 until his passing. Rollie was active in sports in the community. He was the first Softball Commissioner of the Findlay Recreation Department, serving in that capacity from 1957-1960. He was a certified baseball umpire, softball official, basketball referee, and was a head linesman in football. He was an avid golfer, and a long-time member of Findlay Country Club. His extraordinary knowledge of sports trivia and avid support of his beloved Baltimore Orioles defined him as a true sports enthusiast. Funeral services will be held at Colden-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, OH on Friday, October 30, 2020. Visitation will be from 11:00 am-1:00 pm, with a service immediately following. Internment will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia, OH while the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad to perform full military rites. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ, 2100 Greendale Ave. Findlay, OH, 45840.
