Being an absolutely obnoxious man, his life would not have been complete if he had not shared it with someone as equally obnoxious. Jason married that person, Melissa Esper Parker, on July 23, 2006 in Harpers Ferry, WV and she survives. Together they raised five of the most respectful, kind-hearted as well as lovingly obnoxious children.

Jay was the son of Jason and Nancy (Kelley) Parker and they preceded him in death. He is also survived by his children: daughters, Samantha Jae Stuhmer (husband, Austin) of Auburn, IL and Harley-Dawn Elizabeth Parker of Ashland, IL; sons, Joshua Parker, Grant Parker (fiancée, Sam Koehler), Jeremy Parker all of Ashland, IL and Jason Parker, III of West Virginia; his two beautiful granddaughters that adored him so, Madeline Melissa and Peyton Judith Stuhmer. In addition to his adoring wife, children and granddaughters, Jay is survived by several aunts and uncles, and a crap-ton of cousins that were more like his brothers and sisters.

Jay was born and raised in Maryland where he loved to fish and hunt on "the farm." He worked for his Uncle Leonard Parker and cousin, Jason A. Parker delivering fuel oil before moving to Illinois with his wife and five of his children in 2008. There he worked for the State of Illinois as a Military Security Police Officer at the Air National Guard base in Springfield where he was currently employed at the time of his death. Jay retired August 20, 2019 from the Illinois Air National Guard 183rd Security Forces Squadron where he had a combined 20 years of service between the Air National Guard and Maryland Army National Guard.

In his free time, Jay loved to fish, hunt and smoke some good BBQ pork. Even though he didn't catch many fish, he loved the thought of hopefully one day catching that big one. He did, however, catch a lip or two. Most recently, he picked up a hobby of making custom wood flags that allowed him to collect almost every tool Lowes and Home Depot had to offer pertaining to his craft. He also never finished a remodeling project without first starting another and another and another and still not finishing the first. He really enjoyed watching his youngest do her cheer pose and powerlift with Be Humble Gym, both Special Needs affiliates. The man didn't smile much but when he watched her compete, he watched with a huge smile and a proud heart. He was equally proud of all his children. He instilled a characteristic in his children that you don't typically find in most young adults. He never hesitated to brag about becoming a grandfather to two of the most beautiful little girls in the world, how wonderful of a mother he saw his daughter become, how heartwarming it was to see a son become a caregiver to adults with disabilities, how proud he was to hear those in our little town complement him on a son for his achievements with his employment, how gracious he was to his customers and level of his maturity, and the respect he had for his youngest after overcoming so many challenges in his life and thriving to do his father proud by hopefully becoming an officer in the military as a Chemical, Biological, Radioactive, Nuclear and Explosives Officer. He was looking forward to giving away his son at his son's June, 2021 wedding.

Jay was the ultimate family man. He loved grilling up some chicken and pork to have his table surrounded by obnoxious noise coming from those he loved most, his wife and children. There wasn't much he wouldn't do for someone. He loved harder and more than his rough and tough exterior let on
