It is related that Thaddeus Williams and his brother David were enroute to the gold fields of California by way of Panama to visit their brother Isaac when David became sickened with the prevailing fever and soon after boarding the vessel for California, died and was buried in mid-ocean. Thaddeus continued and according to a later letter, reached Isaac. However, on his return trip it is reported that he died near Elmira, NY and was buried there.
