Former Officer Marvin L. Boone, DSN 5730, received his commission on August 02, 1965, and entered the Police Academy. Upon completion of the academy, Officer Boone's first uniformed assignment was in the 3rd district, followed by other assignments in the 7th, 6th, Radar Enforcement Unit, 6th, and finally the 9th district. During his career, he was awarded 3 Chief's Letters of Commendation on 04/01/1966, 03/01/1969, and 12/01/1974 for police work above the call of duty. Officer Boone remained in the department until January 21, 1976, when he resigned his commission to seek gainful employment in the private sector. Officer Boone served a total of 10.47 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Officer Boone was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in Vietnam as an Engineman 3rd Class (EN-3).

Marvin Lewis Boone was born on Sunday, April 9, 1944 to the late Edom Henry, Sr. and Savannah Boone in St. Louis, MO. He attended high school at Hadley Tech.

Marvin learned to drive early and went to work with his father at their family-owned parking garage in downtown St. Louis. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He was stationed in the Philippine city of Subic Bay. While in the Navy, he had the pleasure of doing the things he loved, such as boxing and maneuvering boats. He boxed competitively during his time while serving his country, representing the Navy in matches fought during his enlistment.

Marvin was also an avid martial arts fan. He was proficient in using firearms and horseback riding. He had his own horse stables in Wentzville, MO. He would ride during parades and other celebrations. Marvin was very talented. He played drums, guitars, keyboards, and saxophone; he loved jazz music. He also loved golf, "which was his mistress". He also had a love for fast cars and motorcycles, which he shared with his brother Allen.

In 1965, Marvin joined the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department as a police officer and detective. He was the first African American motorcycle policeman; he served with William "Bill" Monroe and Mike Beck. They became lifelong friends. Also, Charles "Soup" Campbell (Superman), is a lifelong and special friend.

Marvin's biological son, Adam, whom he loved dearly, was born in 1991 in Atlanta, GA.

Marvin's passion for golf relocated him to Jacksonville, Florida, where he met the love of his life, wife for life, Pamela Durr. She was the blessing he was looking for.

Marvin Boone was preceded in death by his parents, Edom Henry, Sr. and Savannah Boone, and his brother, Edom Henry Boone Jr.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Boone; children, Adam Antone Boone, Tarico (Terella) Williams, Shandra (Richard) Rose, and Denise Jones; grandchildren, Erin McBride, Jasmine (Anderson) Premas, Brittany (Will) Cooper, Ayanna Jones, Cydney Williams, Cedric Flanders, Jr., Maya Hagan, and Jimmie Martin; siblings, Alexander (Dorothy) Boone; siblings, Leonard (Dorothy) Boone; siblings, Leonard (Dorothy) Boone; siblings, Leonard (Dorothy) Boone; siblings, Leonard (Dorothy) Boone; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held on November 6, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., both at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073.
