Elnora has been cremated. Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, is in charge of the arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established in her memory with the proceeds being directed to either the Tipton Ambulance or the Tipton Fire Department. All cards and memorials are to be mailed to: James Suchomel, 15038 Delasol Lane, Naples, FL 34110.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa.
Elnora Louise Thein was born August 25, 1919, in Cedar County near Bennett, the daughter of Edo and Luella (Butterbrodt) Thien. She was a lifelong resident of Tipton, except for two years she lived in Chicago. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1937 and attended Tipton Junior College. She married LaVerne Domonick Suchomel. LaVerne preceded her in death on March 22, 1974. She became a resident of the Crestview Nursing Home in West Branch in 2015. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Theresa’s Church Guild, the 19th Century Club, Athenaeum, Ikebana, several bridge clubs, the Cozy Corner Club and Blue Bird leader. She enjoyed walking, reading and doing volunteer work. Above all, she loved the time she spent with her family.
Surviving are one daughter, Judee Nuechter of Wickenburg AZ; one son, James Suchomel of Naples FL; three grandchildren, Tanya (Jeff) Hargrave-Klein, Kyra (Chip) Gilkison and Ian (Jennifer) Suchomel; six great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Jenira Thien of Mechanicsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Suchomel, one sister, Marian Techau and one brother, Melvin Thien.
