Clara Ellen McKinney Thomas, age 78, of Cadiz, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Born September 19, 1942, in Bumpus Mills, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Jack Wilton McKinney and Edna Scott McKinney.

Ellen was employed as a secretary at Cadiz Drywall since 1977. She was a member of Lake Barkley Homemakers and a longtime member of Joiner's Chapel Church of Christ. She loved to travel and enjoyed tending to her flower garden, but her family always remained dearest to her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by:
her husband, Charles Thomas;
her son, Nick Charles Thomas; and
a sister, Kaye McKinney Welch Price.

She is survived by:
her daughter, Mitzi (Ronnie) Thomas Smith of Cadiz;
two granddaughters, Maegan (Jason) Edmonds and Morgan Jones;
a grandson, Tailer Smith;
two great-granddaughters, Jaslynn Edmonds and Marleigh Smith;
two brothers, Clarence Lee McKinney of Bumpus Mills, and Wilton Scott (Glenda) McKinney of Clarksville, Tennessee; and
a sister, Lona (Gene) Adkins of Hopkinsville.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, September 26, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m., with Jerry Crunk officiating. Burial will follow in Lucian Thomas Cemetery in Trigg County.
