Mario J. Caruso, 76, of Brewerton, passed away Saturday at Veterans Medical Center. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Carmella Caruso; his brother, James Caruso; and his special friend, John DeStephano.
Mario was born in Syracuse and lived most of his life in Syracuse until he retired to his home on Oneida Lake.
Mario was a graduate of North High School and Oswego College. Mario was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and a retired hair stylist. He owned Caruso's Imperial Coiffures at Imperial Gardens and was active in the NY State Hair Stylist Guild as an educator and examiner.
Surviving are his siblings and their spouses, Bernadette Leonard, Nunzio (Jean) Caruso, Mary McCann and Salvatore (Elaine) Caruso; sister-in-law, Susie Caruso; cousin, Antonio (Celia) Caruso; 15 nieces and nephews; and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Farone & Son Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church.
Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street.
