Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Kathleen (called "Kathy" by friends and family) grew up in Compton, California, graduating from Centennial High School. A Christian for most of her life, she attended Second Temple Church of Christ Holiness USA (which was later combined with Starlight Church of Christ Holiness USA), where she served faithfully until her illness.

While very young, Kathy dated and later married Melvin Simmons. They were blessed with 11 children and upon their passing, 30 grandchildren.

Kathy went back to college after her children grew up earning an Associates Degree from Compton College and later a Bachelor’s Degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills.

For almost 20 years Kathy was an educator for the Lynwood Unified School District in Lynwood, California.

Unfortunately Melvin passed away in March 2020 after a lengthy illness. Kathy, who had battled cancer, sadly passed away peacefully in October 2020. She is buried with her husband in Inglewood Park Cemetery.

She leaves a legacy of love, service to God, and a caring, generous spirit. Now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord Jesus.
