Gerald Randolph Joyner, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home Friday morning, October 23rd 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver "Cub" Dawes Joyner and Lois Blanche Shearin Joyner; paternal grandparents, Charlie Dawes Joyner and Della Lindsey Joyner; maternal grandparents, Bettie Harper Shearin and Lucious Jasper Shearin; special aunt and uncle, Lonnie Perry Shearin and Mary Gladys Shearin; and his devoted farm dog, Dixie.

Gerald is survived by his loving family that includes his wife of 46 years, Inge Aycock Joyner; son, William Dawes (Billy) Joyner wife: Kristen Britt Joyner of Elm City; grandchildren, Mariah Anastasia Crawford of Temple, TX, Hunter Dawes Joyner (Katelyn) of Sharpsburg, Avery Campbell Britt, and Joseph Ridge Joyner, both of Elm City; sister, Vickie Joyner Glover, (Billy Bob)of Dortches; special niece, Camilla "Cammy" Cooley Knightlinger (Roger) of Spring Hope; special nephews, Christopher "Chris" Craig Cooley (Tabitha) of Rocky Mount, and Nathan Mark Worsley (Tracy) of Rocky Mount; special aunt, Charlotte Shearin of Nashville; best friend, William Jones (Patricia); special friend, Shepard Inscoe (Shelby) of Rocky Mount; along with a host of family friends and other relatives.

A note of special thanks is extended to Dr. Andrew Armstrong and Ellen Leidig of Duke Health Oncology; Dr. John Kirkpatrick of Duke Health Radiology; Community Home Care and Hospice and Hospice nurse, Elizabeth Strange.

Please join family and friends to remember and celebrate Gerald's wonderful life at Northside Community Church, 12:00 p.m., Monday, October 26th. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
