Donna (Penman) McKnight passed away on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on Catherine Street in Bloomsburg in 1941, a daughter of the late Hurl and Helen (Covert) Penman and was a 1959 Bloomsburg Senior High School graduate.

After her only son, Matt, graduated from Bloomsburg and went into the Marines, she soon moved to warmer locations.

Donna and her husband, Ed, spent several decades in the hospitality industries of Hawaii, St. Croix, southern Florida, and several different islands of the Florida Keys. She loved to read, spend time on the water, and travel to sunshine-filled islands. She also had quite an artistic flair. Her homes were always filled with flower arrangements and tropical island decor which she meticulously maintained. Although artsy and quite a free spirit, she was a constitutionalist, a patriot, and a Gold Star family member, whose uncle was killed in action in Germany in World War II.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward McKnight, on Jan. 10, 2011.

Survivors include her son, Matt Rex and wife Joyce of Catawissa; a sister, Susan, wife of Paul Long of Catawissa; along with several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Allen Funeral Home Inc., 745 Market at Eighth streets, Bloomsburg, is honored to be serving the McKnight family.
