MARY EDNA BARNES from the "News Derrick Journal", Drumright, Oklahoma, January 18, 1984.

"Mary Edna Morgan Barnes was born November 6, 1890 to Thomas and Louella Belle Morgan at Springfield, Missouri and died January 2, 1984. Seven brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

She came to the Olive community in 1907 and lived here the rest of her life. She joined the Little Church in Olive in 1910.

She was married to Jesse L. Barnes on January 20, 1912. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1971. Born to them was one son, Jonathan Eugene, deceased May 13, 1961; three daughters, Lila Calvin, Doris Weaver and Maxine Williams of Bristow.

She leaves six sisters: Retha Gregory of Oilton, Carrie Clark of Drumright, Gladys Caughlin of Tonkawa; and Lottie Wright, Jewel Bethel and Opal Spinner of Portland, Oregon; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held by the Peck Funeral Home at the First Baptist Church at Olive on January 5. The singer was Patti Ann Matherly. She sang "How Great Thou Art" and "One Day at a Time". George Brock III and Larry Wallace officiated. Interment was at the Magnolia Memorial Gardens at Bristow.

Pall bearers were her great grandsons, Steve Weaver, Keith Weaver, Billy Wilson, Roycie Clemens, Dewayne Wilson and David Calvin."
