Homer, Ill., Oct. 14--Mrs. Margaret Yeazel, who is believed to be the oldest resident of Champaign County, died a the home of Emerson Parsons in the village at an early hour this morning Mrs. Yeazel celebrated her 99th birthday anniversary last Saturday. She was the widow of Abraham Yeazel, who was one of the pioneer residents of this part of the country and who has been dead a number of years. The old Yeazel homestead is north of the village and they settled there before the War of Rebellion, having come to Illinois from the vicinity of Dayton, Ohio. Some twelve or fifteen years go, however, Mrs. Yeazel came to this village where she has since made her home, having lived for the past seven years with Mr. Parson, who was an adopted son. The Yeazels had no children of their own, but they adopted Mr. Parsons and Mrs. Caroline Hoffman and raised them. The death of Mrs. Yeazel leaves Mrs. Rebecca Butler, of this village the oldest resident of Champaign County, she being 95 years of age. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
