Marilyn was born at home on the family farm at Lost Springs, KS, on September 19, 1932. She graduated from Lost Springs High School and Wichita Business College, then in 1997 received a BA in Theological Studies from Vision Christian University, Ramona, CA. She worked as an insurance agent/underwriter for various agencies in California for most of her career. She retired at age 65, then several years later rejoined the company she retired from to continue working part time until 2016. She moved to Texas in 2019 to be close to family.

Marilyn gave her life to Christ in 1983. She loved God and shared His love and Word. She did this in various ways, including holding services in a nursing home (1983-1984), a county women's detention center (1985-2019), and a California state prison (2006-2016). She also served at First Assembly of God, Bakersfield, CA, as an elder, an usher and on various prayer ministry teams for many years. She was a mighty, faithful woman of God with a wonderful smile.

She is survived by her sister, Marcia Welch, her niece Tina Welch and husband Bobby Hill Jr., and their son, Logan Hill, all of Arlington, Texas, and her cousin Gerald Carlson, of Sequim, Washington.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, James and Alma Burdette McCoy, a brother John McCoy, and his wife Constance.Graveside services will be held on Saturday Oct. 31, 2020 at Lost Springs Cemetery led by Pastor Darrel Geist. Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington is serving the family.
