Jim retired from the United Telephone System and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Long Hollow Missionary Baptist Church and a longtime member of Hensley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Jim spent many years with his family singing in churches from Michigan to Tennessee. He was a very devoted and faithful Christian for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Nicole Thompson, sisters: Marie Jones, Bonnie Leis and Inez Black.
Jim leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of almost 54 years, Carolyn Wilder Thompson; his children: daughter Vanessa (Brian) Hittepole; sons: Derek (Jackie)Thompson and Aaron (Marybeth) Thompson; grandchildren: Austin, Amanda, Tyler, Daniel, Candon, Cory, Morgan, Keaton, Adelyn and Elijah. Four great-grandchildren and one on the way. In addition to other family and friends.
