Howard E. Long, 91, of Marietta, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2020. A Private Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, October 27th at Kennesaw Memorial Park with the Reverends Wayne Edwards and Steve Edwards officiating.
Mr. Long was born August 30, 1929 at his home in Kennesaw, Georgia. Howard married Jennia Zue “Sue” South on July 8, 1950 and raised a family. Mr. Long worked with A&P Food Stores from January 1946 until March 1985. He worked in the food business for 41 years. In 1986, he worked with Christian & Associates. He loved to work in his yard, gardening where he grew fresh vegetables to give away to friends and family. In his earlier years, he would go deep sea fishing and loved the Atlanta Crackers ball team. Later in life, he enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Marietta where he served for many years. He was ordained as a deacon in July 1977. He took pride in his work for the church cemetery.
Survivors include his daughters, Gloria Denise Long Mandley (Thomas); Susan Renee Long Mills (Berl); grandchildren, David Scott Howard, Jennifer Howard Kimball, Joshua Mills (Brittany), Jacob Mills (Lindsey); great-grandchildren, Lindsey Howard, Alexandra Howard, Grant Kimball; great-great granddaughter, Kalaya Denise Washington; brother, Robert Long (Jewell); sister, Virginia Lambert (Sam) , Helen Raper.
