Cynthia M. (Law) Ryan, 78, of Vero Beach Florida, formerly of Auburn, passed away on July 6, 2019. Cynthia was born in Todmorden, England, and emigrated to America with her parents Susan and Nicholas Holak, settling in Auburn in 1952.

She was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1958, and BOCES School of Practical Nursing. She worked at Auburn Correctional Facility and after moving to Vero Beach 27 years ago, as a hospice nurse for VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida, retiring in 2005. The circle of life brought her back to the VNA Hospice House, where she cared for so many patients and developed many relationships with her co-workers, who cared for her on her final journey.

She is survived by her four children, Mark(Kathy) Ryan of Peoria, AZ, Vicki Ryan, Peggy (Steve) West and Diane Banks, all of Auburn, her grandchildren Claire Ryan, Max Clavelli, Kevin(Carrie) O’Hora, Terence Allen and Melissa Allen, and great-grandchildren Kaden and Brady O’Hora and Lucas Allen. She also leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law Donna and Ned Wrobel, and her only nephew Kent Wrobel, all of Auburn, as well as many cousins and extended family in England and in Vero Beach.

Cynthia was predeceased by her father, John Law, who died while serving his country in 1943, her parents and her granddaughter Kristin Marie Banks.

It was Cynthia’s wish to come back home and be buried in Auburn. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Thursday, with a short service to follow at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St., Auburn.
